AuSM Events

AuSM events get bigger and better every year and you're always on the guest list - all AuSM on campus events are free to AUT students. Kick-starting the year with Orientation, right through to October Odyssey and all the bits and pieces in between, AuSM provides constant entertainment on both campuses throughout the semesters with a selection of New Zealand's best DJs, entertainers and BBQs each week.

AuSM Free Feeds (All year long)
A good cheap meal is hard to find, so if your stomach is rumbling, try one of AuSM's FREE feeds. There's no catch, you only have to be at North Shore Campus on Tuesday (by the Lime Café) or City Campus on Thursday to be eligible for a freshly BBQ'd sausage with bread. Get your fill at FREE Feeds every week.

AuSM Orientation (3rd - 14th March)
The most anticipated event of the year is AuSM Orientation and AuSM is renowned across Auckland for the size and scale of this event. The AuSM Events Team seek out the best in local and international talent, combining the acts into two weeks of lunchtime and evening entertainment featuring the freshest music, funniest comedians and most talented performers, as well as more giveaways, competitions and stalls than you can shake a stick at. There is no better way to ease into life on campus than by meeting new people, embracing the vibrant atmosphere and watching the first weeks fly by.

AuSM New Zealand Music Month Series (May)
New Zealand music is amongst the best in the world and this is you chance to catch acts on their way up. AuSM's tribute to kiwi music is local, live and loud, and NZ Music Month will bring the sounds shaping our nation to your doorstep. Past artists have included Deja Voodoo, The Mintchicks, Fast Crew and The Opensouls.

AuSM Re-Orientation (21st July - 1st August)
Taking the winter blues away, Reorientation awaits as you return to uni after mid-year break. Reorientation is a smaller orientation festival (think quality versus quantity), giving you something to wake up for in the morning and easing you back into campus life. The programme includes concerts, hypnotists, pub quizzes and more.

AUT Battle of the Bands (August 14, 21 and 28)
Taking place straight after Reorientation is the Battle of the Bands. The competition is held at Vesbar consisting of two heats and a final, and all you have to do to enter is have one AUT student in your band. Prizes include bar tabs, an opening spot at the following year's AuSM Orientation and a day's recording to record a demo.

15 Minutes of Fame (October)
AUSA (Auckland University Students' Association) runs a competition designed to seek out the best emerging film talent and AuSM has arranged it so that you can take part. You don't have to be a film student to enter so you're only limited by your imagination. Winners are announced at the awards evening in October which is attended by local industry reps.

October Odyssey 13th - 24th October
AuSM presents two weeks of bands, entertainers and a big concert guaranteed to end the academic year with a bang. Big beer steins, rocking music, local talent, and lashings of frivolity all wrapped up in a pre-exam bow, this is the final event of the year and boy is it a good one to go out on.
