Kiwi teen-glish

Does anyone else read Sideswipe? It's the one at the back of the Herald every day. I love it, it's my guilty pleasure. Quite often it's one of the few parts of the paper that I always read. Anyways, yesterday's issue had a compilation of Kiwi teen-glish (in response to a previous compilation of British teen-glish). So for those who missed it here's an explanation of teen-glish, with a few of my own thrown into the mix.

Gangsta: Excellent. "The Warriors had a gangsta win on Sunday."

Skux: A ladies man.

Stain: An unwanted opinion.

Skee: Scared.

Puck: Instead of the obvious, similar-sounding word.

Fob: Fresh off the boat, used to describe a person's bad English.

Mean/Dope/Sick/Bad: Impressive. "That car's sick", "Those Nikes are mean".

Shot: Thank you/well-done. "Shot for the ride home," or "Shot, Mike."

Rude: Not very good. "That new song's rude."

Laterz: Goodbye.

Bangin': Something that is cool, impressive.

Haterade: When someone is hating on you. "That girl be sippin' the haterade."

Horseyed [horse-eed]: Crunk (see below), drunk, cabbaged.

Ill: That's phat, cool, mean, mint. "Your sneakers are ill" ("I like your sneakers").

And my personal favourite - Whakaawi: Where the fuck are we?

A few of my own suggestions:

Skitzing: Hallucinating or getting really angry e.g. "She was skitzing hard."

Fucktard: Fucking retard e.g. "He's a fucktard."

Sweet as: That's fine, that's cool.

Frick: Commonly heard on ‘Scrubs'. Can be a substitute for drat, darn it, bugger or fuck.

Random: Weird or unusual. "That is so random," "You're so random."

Pigs: The police. "The pigs are coming."

Crunk: Crazy drunk. "Let's get crunk tonight."

Buzzy/trippy: Common reaction when stoned. "That kaleidoscope is so buzzy."
