  An organisation to help promote the best and the brightest in the advertising world has launched with two AUT students playing an important role.Ignite, set up by New Zealand Post, is an organisation that tries to bridge the transition from studying graphic design and advertising at university and the cutthroat real world of working in an advertising agency. Anzac Tasker and Alex Carey impressed the steering committee at the Student Marketer of the Year Awards when they were seated with NZ Post and came up with the name Ignite there on the spot.

I had a cold two weeks ago, I gave it to other people, got over the cold, and now it seems it has returned. To celebrate my ill-health I'd like to know what Labour or National can do for me in times of dire need with their 2008 Health Policy. Smooth intro.  ‘Better, Sooner, More Convenient' is the approach that National are taking. Talk of reducing endless waiting lines, maintaining universal subsidies for GP visits as well as boosting medical training and investigating the possibility of student loan write-offs for health professionals working in hard-to-staff areas, are all the good intentions of National's Health Discussion Paper.

Holly's World Youth Day Adventure

World Youth Day was an initiative of Pope John Paul II, and was inspired by massive gatherings of young people in Rome celebrating the Youth Jubilee in 1984 and the United Nations International Year of Youth in 1985. His aim was to bring together young Catholics from all over the globe to celebrate, learn and grow in their faith. Pope Benedict XVI has chosen to continue this legacy. Thus, we have the 23rd World Youth Day, which was held in Sydney, Australia from the 15 -20th July 2008.

Student loans and allowances- something dear to our hearts

So much do we love our debt that it hit the $10 billion mark earlier this year. More than 700,000 New Zealanders have borrowed from the student loan scheme since it was introduced in 1992. According to New Zealand Union of Students' Association co-president Liz Hawes, the total debt rises $1 billion each year. Does anyone else find it completely bullshit that we study to further ourselves, ultimately benefiting the country, yet we're sentenced to debt for the majority of our lives? NZUSA conducted a survey last year on student income and expenditure, identifying an increase of 54% since 2004 in living costs and debt. The survey stated that students have an average debt of $28,838.

For those of you who have been keeping an eye on our news section, you will have noticed a lot of stories about something called ‘Case Competitions'. Unfortunately, it turns out that not many of you know what these things are, so in order to enlighten you, here is a bit of background. Case Competitions are the hallmarks for many universities around the world, as platforms for them to showcase their brightest talents among their business students in terms of presentation, strategic prowess and analytical skills. Notable universities around the globe regularly participate in international competitions which gather the best business students to compete for the title as ‘Case Champions', while others are proud to host competitions instead.
