Kia Ora everyone
This week you should all receive an
email to your AUT student account with information about the 2009
AuSM online elections. Through this email you will be able to vote
for your chosen candidates. Remember these candidates will be your
student leaders at the university next year; so make sure you take
your time and read the profiles of the different candidates before
you decide to vote. They will be influencing a lot of what you see
happening at AuSM and in and around the university. Voting opens
today (Monday 25 August and closes next Friday 5 September). If you
have any questions regarding the elections you can email
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

If you were wondering why things have
quietened down in terms of events happening on campus I can assure
you it has been as a direct result of the bad weather we have been
happening. AuSM has a lunchtime social programme in place all year so
that every week there is something going on at the north shore on
Tuesday and in the city on Thursday. We were meant to have had
various entertainment however due to the awful weather we have been
having we have continually had to cancel what we had planned. I hope
you are all not getting cabin fever from the bad weather, with having
to continually be couped up inside. In the up and coming months of
September and October (before the year comes to an end) we have a
number of events planned, however many are weather dependent. All
these events will be building up to the end of year AuSM
De-Orientation Festival. Let's hope for a change in the weather
sometime soon!
Lastly, after you all return from the 2
week September break, AuSM will be conducting voting for the AuSM
Awesome Awards. This initiative was started in 2007, where by
students are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite
lecturers, and other staff around campus who students believe should
be recognised. After the voting process is complete, AuSM will be
putting on an awards lunch to thank these staff on your behalf for
all their hard work and efforts. Keep an eye out after the September
break for more information on how you can have your opportunity to
have your say.
Best of luck with all those assignments
and exams!
