Kung Fu Panda
I've always been a Pixar man myself.
DreamWorks Animation have just never had that spark of creative
genius that take their CG features to a level above the pioneers at
Pixar. Antz was good, but probably only because Woody Allen is my
hero, and Shrek was good for a few chuckles. But other than that,
DreamWorks have a very bad habit of stealing Pixar's ideas (Antz
and A Bug's Life, Shark Tale and Finding Nemo) and trying to hide
the lack of jokes and emotional depth with celebrity vo... Read More >> |

The poor mans flu remedy
2008
hasn't done me a world of favours on the health front, given that
I'm now dealing with The Black Lung #4. The first instance of the
lurgy crept upon me at the beginning of the year, and since then I've
never quite shaken it. Now with the rampant winter chill in the air,
it's progressed to tuberculosis. Exaggeration? Yes, but I'm
mightily fed up with this blasted cough and when you've been sick
as long as I have, you tend to blow shit out of proportion.

The Weekend without My Phone
Have we all quit cigarettes and become
addicted to a new cancer-giving pleasure!? Cellphones. I admit, I am just as bad
as, well, everyone else. I wake up and my phone is the first thing I
look at, my phone stays with me throughout the day, I'm constantly
checking it, I rely on it, I need it! However, I don't think it's a
particularly healthy habit. After a walk down Queen Street yesterday
I realised there was never a moment when I didn't see a cellphone in
someone's hand; our phone... Read More >> |

To Mo or Not to Mo
When
pre-pubescent boys look up at men, there is always an aspect of awe.
Men are to boys what Ferraris are to Mazdas, and facial hair is the

a littlin', and I remember how cool I thought I'd be with some
manly sideburns or a well trimmed soul patch (I know both of those
things are pretty awful). It's not as easy as turning 15 and
getting sexy. Appropriate facial hair is a delicate art, and over the
last couple o... Read More >> |

Student loans and allowances- something dear to our hearts
So
much do we love our debt that it hit the $10 billion mark earlier
this year. More than 700,000 New Zealanders have borrowed from the
student loan scheme since it was introduced in 1992. According to New
Zealand Union of Students' Association co-president Liz Hawes, the
total debt rises $1 billion each year. Does
anyone else find it completely bullshit that we study to further
ourselves, ultimately benefiting the country, yet we're sentenced
to debt for the majority of our lives?... Read More >> |
